Bio

The students will know me as Don Mateo ( Mr. Mat). Don Mateo Received his bachelor degree in education in 1993 from the University of Idaho. He went on to teach high school for several, returning to the university to earn three additional degrees in History, Spanish and English. 
 
After graduation Don Mateo moved the country of Costa Rica. He taught at small private school and at la UNA (the National University) after earning Masters in Acquisition of Second Language and Cultural. His two oldest children were born in Costa Rica.
 
Don Mateo began working in the Grandview C-4 School District in 2012. He teaches all levels of Spanish, including Spanish for Spanish Speakers.
 
This year Don Mateo is also working as the Foreign Languages Department Chair.
 
In his spare time Don Mateo can be working at he local BMX track, help to teach kids to ride their bikes or riding his bikes. During the school year, Don Mateo volunteers at an AWANA club help kids to memorize Bible verses. When he finds a moment, Don Mateo can be seen listing to Spanish podcasts, reading, exploring documentaries or trying to catch up on house chores.
