Congratulations to Chayanne Sandoval-Williams

Congratulations Chayanne, on being selected as a 2017 Winner for the Western Missouri and Kansas Affiliate Award for Aspirations in Computing from the National Center for Women in Information Technology!

Chayanne is a sophomore at a pretty typical high-school (GHS) in pretty typical suburban town, but Chayanne is anything but typical. As a freshman, she joined her first class in Computer Science and she was completely hooked. Her proficiency in programming led her to be pursued as a programmer for her high school's FIRST Robotics Team. She joined the Robotics team as the only programmer and learned how to code FIRST Robots in Java in a matter of only 6 weeks. She is now the lead programmer of the team and helps run a smaller team of programmers in learning Java code. She also participates in an all girls coding club as well as her school’s FBLA and FCCLA teams. After high school, she plans to go to college and major in Computer Science or Software Engineering. With a great interest in the possibilities of Virtual Reality, she would like to pursue a project or even a job in this prospective field. Until then, she plans on continuing to work hard to achieve all of her goals.

Chayanne will be honored in February at Kansas City Power & Light in Kansas City
