The Grandview High School FCCLA members traveled to Harmony Vineyard Church in North Kansas City on Oct. 11 to attend the FCCLA Region 14 Meeting. The theme for the meeting was “Super Hero’s, Super Leaders.” The organization is celebrating its 70th year. Over 450 members, advisors, and guests attended from chapters across the west central part of the state.
Ey’Leonna Howard, Grandview High School Senior, is the Region 14 President. She presided over the meeting that was planned by her, Ashley Arthur, Grandview High School senior, Missouri FCCLA Vice President of State Programs, and the other regional officers.
The guest speaker for the event was Devin Henderson, who gave an entertaining presentation inspiring youth to be a magician, not a pickpocket. He spoke from the heart about being the kind of person that cares and shares using humor to connect with the young audience. The community service project this year was a bake sale and raffle held to benefit CASA in Kansas City. The group raised over $500.
