NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

-We had a great assembly with John Baylor and the Junior class who will be taking the ACT this Wednesday!  Mr. Baylor then met with the teachers who have been working the ACT prep during Power Hour the last few weeks.

-Senior Parents-If you have any questions concerning your student and graduation requirements, please contact the office.  The last day for seniors to pay for fines/fees with a check is April 28.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Residential Sewage is looking for a high school junior or senior that will work four to five years for their company. The opening is an office staff position starting May 2017. If you are interested in more information, stop by the counseling center.

Creative Blow Mold Tooling in Lee’s Summit is looking to hire. They have on the job training and summer internships available. Stop by the counseling center for information.

Staco Electric Construction Company is looking for an intern for administrative duties. They need someone who can work two to three hours, three to four day per week after school. The job duties include filing and answering phones. Computer skills are needed. Additional summer hours are available if desired.  Stop by the counseling center if you are interested.

Grandview School District will be having a FREE physical night for any student who will be participating in athletics/activities during the 2017/2018 school year. It applies for high school and middle school students. The event will be held Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 from 6:00-8:30 pm in the GHS Cafeteria. Students must bring a MSHAA physical form to the event with a parent and student signature in order to receive a physical. Only physicals completed after February 1st, 2017 will be valid for the coming school year.

Starting April 1st, students who plan to enroll full time at a NCAA Division I or II school this fall (2017) will be able to request their final amateurism certification. Students must have a registered Certification Account and an enrollment period of fall 2017 to request. You can find more information about amateurism certification on the NCAA website.

Hire KC Youth - powered up, powered on and ready for summer 2017! We are excited to share that Mayor Sly James recently announced that he’s launching a powered-up version of his youth summer jobs program - Hire KC Youth - and expanding it from a City Hall program into a citywide initiative, offering our youth more access to, and increased numbers of, immersive and seasonal job experiences. Students can apply now at hirekcyouth.org!

Any student interested in a career in Hospitality and Tourism Management needs to see Mr. Morris in the counseling center. This is a new program offered by Summit Tech Academy and they are looking for students to fill positions for the 2017-2018 school year. Students will have the opportunity to earn a very lucrative salary and qualify for management positions after participating in this program.
